Hi, I’m Jemma. Welcome to Hemlock Grove Therapy!
As a Registered Social Worker my goal is to sit with folks to explore their challenges and heartache with dignity and respect. I aim to help folks feel heard, seen, and understood as they work through the issues impacting them. I identify as a cisgender-heterosexual female, and I welcome and aim to offer a safe space for LGBTQ2S+ folks, including gender affirming care.
I specialize in Somatic-Attachment Therapy, which considers an attachment perspective coupled with the neurophysiological workings of the brain and body. I work with the story of the body to support the full expression of your nervous system and I pay attention to how relationships have formed your perceptions of yourself, others, and the world in the context of the work we are doing together.
My approach is relational and has been described as “curious, gentle, and kind”. My empathic listening, humour, and warm nature is central to my practice. I draw on the resources you already possess to strengthen your inherent inner wisdom and support your resiliency and transformation.
A little more about me -
For most of my life I lived in southwestern Ontario, and I moved to beautiful Vancouver Island in 2018.
I graduated with a Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University and I am a Registered Social Worker with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (#13960) and the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (#851316).
One of my favourite things is hiking on the trails with my very cute, playful, and loving dog named Bowser and my family. I love to be near or on the water, and to explore creativity through artistic mediums, cooking, and DIY projects.
